THE BIRMINGHAM BOYS’ AND GIRLS’ UNION
The Birmingham Boys’ and Girls’ Union is a registered charity which currently provides outdoor activities at Woodlands Camp, Aldridge, for young people of all ages and backgrounds from the West Midlands. Through its work the organisation provides a vital facility and service for some 14000 children a year, of whom many are deprived or handicapped in some way. Some 100 Years old, the BBGUs’ development has necessarily been such to reflect the vast social changes of the 20th Century. But whilst the nature of the Unions work has altered, it remains close to its original objectives (repeated in Union trust deeds of 1967) “to help and educate young people in the area to develop their physical and mental capacities”
